One very positive observation I have had of the I-Pace when compared to a Tesla, is the ability to use very little energy when parked and switched off. Tesla’s have always suffered from quite poor ‘vampire drain’. This is the amount of battery charge you lose when the car is parked up, switched off. Tesla’s seemingly go to sleep in stages over days but even when fully asleep, they lose charge. The I-Pace simply doesn’t. It’s still connected until it goes fully to sleep, after several days but it just doesn’t lose charge. I once left the I-Pace unplugged with a full battery for a week and it lost only a couple of per cent from the battery. You can also, using WattCat set a wake-up date so if you are planning to leave the car for a while, say when you go on holiday, you can set it to wake-up from deep sleep and therefore be ready for you and able to pre-condition off the app. If you’re constantly checking the SoC or location and/or status of the car while you’re away from it, then it will lose more charge as it is kept in a higher state of awakeness but if that is avoided, there is no reason to fear leaving the car at the airport for multiple weeks and not having a reasonable SoC when you return.
